Proudly Prejudiced

Introducing:

Mr. Darcy (Momo)

The newest, and quite possibly final addition to the Harada family. My husband has been wanting a cat for some time, so I finally caved and adopted the first one that was offered. He is the exact opposite of what I imagined our family would bring home, but he needed a place to live, and we are all getting on smashingly. He has a weird schedule at the moment...and reminds me of the days when I was in college, living in university apartments with a tuxedo cat named "bassianus". That thing would wake me up at all hours of the night, pouncing on my feet, spilling water on my face, making god awful noises, etc. He finally calmed down after we got him "snipped" (poor thing) but those first few kitten months were hard core....almost as bad as having a newborn....almost.

I think being a parent has made me a MUCH better pet owner. I take this animals needs pretty seriously, especially the fur combing (he loves it though) and eye care (he has classic goopy eye, a persian feature). I can't quite figure him out yet....why does he look at me and mew...he has food, he has a clean litter box...what else could he need besides some attention? ok...I petted him and he is still mewing? He just likes to mew? He seems to be scared of just about everything, though as the days go by he is becoming more accustomed to our schedule and our noises. He is most playful in the morning, and if I don't wear him out (which isn't that difficult) then he gets a bit pissy. During the day (when Nanami is afoot) he tends to do a lot of hiding under the bed...which was interesting at first, as that area hadn't been dusted in quite some time....persian cat= duster with legs.

The last thing that completely floors me about this cat, is that he doesn't seem to be interested in eating. I have offered up the yummiest of noms, and every time he turns up his nose. The only thing he eats is a dried "science diet"....and he only does that in the wee hours of the morning ....sometimes I wake up and hear him crunching away.

Anyway, that is that....our family is complete...and all that jazz.

Happy Sunday.

LOL, Mr. Darcy!? He's a cutie. Looks a little bit sad and confused in the picture, but I guess that is just a Persian feature. Do you know how old he is?

He is 2 years and 9 months...and yes, he is a brooding angry soul...Or so he looks. He sulks around the house like someone just ran over his tail....but, he is warming up accordingly, he even sat on my lap for a bit this morning!

Can`t wait to meet him in person! Even if I end up wheezing later on...

The duster with legs comment cracked me up!

LOL at the duster with legs!

And the long haired cat thing? You going to start knitting with cat fur now? ;P

ahem....if I am collecting cat fur...for possible spinning....would that make me crazy? I should mention this fur is very, very soft, with a nice kink in it that spins up something like cashmere....is cat hair any different than goat hair?

I have a serious problem....
